ep 004: fermentation 101
Welcome to episode four of PRL TV. I don’t know how things are in your neck of the woods. But around these parts, it’s getting pretty chilly. My garden is getting sparse (though the hearty kale is still hanging on). This is the perfect time of year to start some fermentation projects.
Living Cuisine Chef, Helen Castillo, of THE RAW PALATE joins me (at 105 DEGREES, one of Forbes best new restaurants for 2010) in exploring three methods of fermentation: making coconut kefir, coconut yogurt, and cashew cheese. In addition, Erin of WATER KEFIR GRAINS (where I buy my kefir grains) is going to giveaway a FREE kefir starter kit to one lucky viewer. To learn more, check out the video…

Hello,
Where can you purchase non-dairy liquid acidophilus?
Thanks,
Rose
Hi Rose,
I bought mine at a coop in Oklahoma City. I would have gotten the powdered kind (which is much easier to find), but they didn’t have it. I’m not even sure if they still make that kind. I didn’t get the sense that there was a lot of demand for the product there. It had probably been there a while. I’m actually using the powder now. You might be able to find it on amazon. But the powder works just as well…Good Luck!
It looks like they do have it on amazon…
